Colonel Thomas Thornton, an 18th-century flamboyant sportsman, inherited wealth and pursued falconry, horse racing, and hunting dog development. His notable circle formed the Confederate Hawks of Great Britain in 1772. Upon retiring, he received a Silver Gilt Tea Urn, now displayed at The Archives of Falconry in Boise, Idaho.
